God. Life. Love.

Why when a person is presented with something extremely simple does he or she have trouble accepting the simplicity? Is this a curse of the “complex” being and “complex mind”?
Do humans see it as their calling in life to make everything more complex and more difficult than was ever meant?
Growing up, I was under the impression that God was this immense, complex being that humans will never understand.  God was beyond any comprehension because He was in and of Himself the Creator of this great universe, and the One who can create everything out of nothing is entirely too elaborate for feeble humans to understand.  As I’ve gotten older, become more mature, and began to learn who God was on my own terms, one particular word began to highlight my life: LOVE.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:7-8)
So, taking what John is saying here, God is, in fact, simple. God is love. Therefore, God is not something we cannot understand, He explains Himself so clearly and in the most uncomplicated manner.  He spells it out for us. He tells us who He is…love.

Thus, out of our over-complication of God, we have overcomplicated ourselves.
God is love.
God created us in His image.
“If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.”  (1 John 4:15)
We have God. God lives in us,
Therefore, we are love.
We are meant for love. We are built to share love. We are created to be loved.
Life is simple. Life is love.
